It is painfully clear we live in an age of confusion over the roles and callings of men and women. New terms and definitions abound trying to explain gender. The online debates range from feminists claiming autonomy and reproductive freedom to proponents of the newer manosphere with its emphasis on men domineering over women. Thankfully God’s Word tells us the roles and callings of men and women. The goal of these talks is to cut through the confusion and look at what God has said about our callings in the creation of Adam and Eve. In doing so young adults in the church will be equipped to explain how Christ’s redeeming grace allows men and women to flourish in their roles. They will be encouraged to see how simply living out our God given mandate gives clarity to a watching world as to the true and fulfilling callings of men and women.
Lord willing, the LOGOS winter retreat, intended for singles and married couples ages 18-30, will be held January 7-9, 2026 at Cedar Lake Ministries at 13701 Lauerman St, Cedar Lake, IN 46303. We look forward to hearing from our main speaker, Rev. Andrew Knott, who is a pastor at Faith URC in West Olive, MI. The cost is $260 (U.S.) per person for the program, housing, and five meals (Friday night’s dinner not included). Cost per person for married couples is $220. The regular registration deadline will be midnight December 14, with late registration $310 for singles and $270 per person for married couples ending December 21. The retreat begins Thursday evening with dinner and concludes with Saturday lunch. If you are traveling from a distance, we can probably make arrangements to transport you to and from the O’Hare International Airport only. Cedar Lake Ministries is located 35 miles south of Chicago and features a scenic setting, great facilities and excellent food served in a dining room with a lakeside view. Recreational options include sledding (weather-permitting), bowling, or sight-seeing in nearby Chicago. All attendees will reside in the comfortable Rest-A-While Lodge, which includes linens and rooms with private baths. Check-in is between 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, followed by dinner at 5 p.m. and our first session. The winter retreat concludes with lunch at 12:00 p.m. Saturday. Intended for post-high singles and married ages 18-30, RYS offers two LOGOS (meaning Word) events per year for young adults – a winter retreat with one speaker and a more extended summer conference with a main speaker and workshops.
